While another woman stated, “this logo should have been voted on by Osceola County citizens.”

The new brand identity was publicly unveiled at the State of Osceola County event held in Oct. 2021, which launched how Osceola County will “Be first to what’s next.”

The bright and bold color scheme is meant to symbolize the diversity and inclusiveness of the Osceola County community and the “bright” future ahead.

Meanwhile, some think the new logo strips Osceola County of its heritage.

The issue for many was not getting the public’s opinion on the final product.

Monday’s meeting got so heated that Chair Brandon Arrington adjourned the meeting less than ½ hour after it started because it was so contentious from the start.

Arrington said he understands that people are upset with the change and that this logo will still be used.

“I’ll be honest, I was shocked at the hatred and unchristian like comments,” Arrington concluded

According to a press release from the county, its branding process was “a research-driven, community-wide initiative with the goal of having Osceola County stand out and stand up as we grow toward our preferred future.

The release also stated that in order to maintain and honor the history and heritage of Osceola County, the previous Osceola County logo was retained as a “Heritage” logo.

The “Heritage” log can appear on official documents, proclamations and other appropriate uses.

The Heritage Logo was designed in 1987 by Barni McIntire, a local artist and long-time resident, as part of the county’s centennial celebration.

Osceola County paid $170 in 1986 for the Centennial logo, which was approved by commissioners in 1993 as the official logo.
