Osceola High School will see increased police presence Monday after gun scare on campus

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee police will be adding extra security Monday at Osceola High School, after a gun scare on campus last week.

Officers responded to the school Monday and found the teen with a BB gun in his bag.

Police said he never fired it or threatened anyone.

Officers said they are being proactive by adding police on and around campus, and there is no actual direct threat to the school.

Osceola High School officials said they understand that some students may not feel comfortable attending classes on Monday and support their decision to not attend school on that day.

“This absence will be considered excused, and teachers have been notified to allow all students to make up needed assignments,” a school spokesperson said.

School officials said a ninth grade curriculum night event and all after-school and athletic events have also been cancelled for Monday.
