New evidence released in Nicole Montalvo case

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — New evidence has been released in the Nicole Montalvo case, the mother whose remains were found buried in a backyard in Osceola County.

The steps prosecutors are taking include going through calls and talking to cellmates from the first time her estranged husband, Christopher Otero Rivera, was locked up.

Court records show Otero-Rivera attacked Montalvo. He was sentenced to a year in jail. He got out a few months later and was eventually a suspect in Montalvo’s murder.

On Thursday, the State Attorney’s office released a call Otero-Rivera made in January 2019 during his time in jail to his father Angel Rivera.
