OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A St. Cloud mother is hoping for the best after she said her daughter will likely lose one of her eyes as the result of a vicious stabbing inside a home Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the incident happened around 1 p.m. inside the St. Cloud residence near Georgia Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard.

Officials said 9-year-old Jayda Lee was stabbed several times inside the home by a man who was wanted by police.

Police said the man then ran through several back yards and burglarized an RV after the stabbing.

There was then a confrontation after officers attempted to stop him that led to the officers firing their weapons. The man died on the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Jayda’s mother, Veronika Snyder, said Jayda has been alert and talking and that the surgeries have gone well, but they are concerned she may lose one of her eyes.

“I want her back, I want her healthy. I don’t want her to look in the mirror,” she said.

Snyder said she’s hoping for this to be “a bad dream,” and is praying her daughter makes a full recovery and for police to conduct a through investigation.
