KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee City Hall reopened Tuesday morning two hours after police say a suspicious package containing two dead rats was found at the building.
Police said the package was found at an employee entrance to City Hall and that the area nearby was evacuated.
“Please avoid this area of downtown Kissimmee,” police tweeted at 9:40 a.m.
The city posted on social media that City Hall was closed due to police activity in the area. The building reopened around 11:30 a.m. after police gave the all clear.
Officers said they located a person of interest, who told investigators that there were two dead rats inside the box, which was confirmed by the Orange County bomb squad.
Police said they are interviewing that person of interest to gather more information about why the package was left.
