OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced a new Osceola County narcotics investigation unit on Monday afternoon.
Lopez announced the creation of the Osceola Narcotics Investigative Bureau partnering with the Florida Highway Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The announcement comes a week after board members voted to dissolve the Osceola County Investigative Bureau, a multi-jurisdictional anti-drug task force that targeted mid to upper-level drug traffickers.
Lopez said 16 deputies will serve on the unit investigating drug cases throughout the county.

“To my knowledge, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has never had a narcotics unit with this number of dedicated law enforcement officers targeting drug traffickers,” Lopez said.
On Monday, Orange-Osceola State Attorney Monique Worrell also announced a new narcotics unit to investigate and prosecute high-level drug trafficking cases.
