Deputies: Woman charged with murder 2 months after daughter, 4, found dead at resort

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that the mother of a 4-year-old girl found dead at a Kissimmee-area resort in January will now face charges related to her daughter’s murder.

Deputies said Jacinda Decaro was transported from the sheriff’s office to the Osceola County Jail on Wednesday on a charge of premeditated murder, two months after her daughter’s death on Jan. 10.

Deputies said they responded to the Star Island Resort near Kissimmee that day for a reported attempted suicide. Deputies said a woman requested a well-being check on Decaro after she failed to show up for work.

Deputies said that when they entered the master bedroom, they found Decaro and her 4-year-old daughter, Masiela Decaro, unresponsive on the bed.

Investigators said Jacinda had a faint pulse and was taken to a nearby hospital. Masiela was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez said investigators believe Decaro intentionally poisoned her daughter with Benadryl and tried to kill herself.

The sheriff said investigators found a note on a nearby nightstand that said, “I’m sorry.”

Lopez said the night Masiela died, Decaro talked about suicide to several different people.

“She told an ex-boyfriend she didn’t want to live,” Lopez said.

When deputies tried to talk to Decaro about the case, she did not provide any answers about what happened. She is being held on no bond.
