OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A construction worker was killed after he tried to stop traffic early Friday on a busy road in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the worker, 43, of Longwood, was hit in the southbound lanes of South Poinciana Boulevard near Old Tampa Highway shortly before 7 a.m. by a car being driven by a 71-year-old Kissimmee man.

The worker was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Troopers said it was dark out at the time of the crash and the worker was holding a flashlight but not wearing a reflective safety vest.

The driver is not facing charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
