OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County Sheriff Bob Hansell announced his retirement Thursday.
It’ll be effective at the end of his term in January 2017.
Hansell made the announcement to his staff at Heritage Park.
“It’s kind of nice to have that time for 16 months to continue to work in the Sheriff’s Office and not have the people questioning what is going to happen to the Sheriff’s Office and who is going to lead it. I’ve opened the doors,” he said.
When he officially retires, he will have been with the department for more than 40 years.
Hansell has not endorsed anyone to take his place.
