Osceola County juvenile justice program security guard accused of having sex with minor

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County deputies said a woman working as an overnight security guard for a juvenile justice program is accused of having sex with a minor.

Deputies said Rachelle Edwards, 33, is facing charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and indecent, lewd, or lascivious touching.

Deputies said Edwards was working at the Kissimmee Youth Academy, a medium security-level program under the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, when she initiated a relationship with a 17-year-old boy serving a sentence at the facility.

“They exchanged letters back and forth and then at some point he was moved to a cell without a camera. That’s where all the sexual misconduct, to our knowledge, took place,” Sheriff Marcos Lopez said.

Deputies said Edwards has no criminal background and was contracted to work at the facility through a third party.
