The search began Tuesday along Bridgewater Court, not far from East Lake Elementary in Kissimmee.

Investigators found a body in a pond Wednesday around 11:45 a.m.

Channel 9 reporter Q McCray spoke to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez this morning. He said his deputies recovered the body of a woman out of a retention pond at the Springlake Village subdivision.

Drone 9 recorded video of the search effort this morning. Channel 9 had returned to the location and saw deputies back at the scene, waiting for the sun to rise so the search could resume.

Osceola and Brevard County crews worked together to search for this woman. The sheriff said the woman was seen going into the water and one of the residents attempted to get her out of the water.

Deputies responded to the pond around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after the sheriff’s office received a call about a possible drowning in progress.

The sheriff brought in his boat and sonar equipment, as well as the Brevard County Dive Team. Lopez said the water is about 30 feet deep in some spots, with submerged trees and concrete.

“In a situation like this, we do everything possible to bring the person back to their family,” Lopez said.

Lopez pulled out all of the stops in the rescue effort, even calling the chopper to the scene.

He told Channel 9 that detectives are working on a missing person’s case that was reported after the woman went under, but he has not connected the two cases just yet.

Lopez said the body they recovered was wearing the same clothing as the woman who was reported missing.

The sheriff’s office is waiting for the medical examiner to release the woman’s identity.
