Orlo-Vista community to hear about plans to prevent flooding from major storms

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — People living in Orange County’s Orlo-Vista community can learn about new efforts Tuesday to prevent flooding during a major storm.

Orlo-Vista was devastated by Hurricane Ian last year and Hurricane Irma in 2017.

In response, the county has approved a flood mitigation project that includes reshaping stormwater ponds.

Plans include building a new pipeline to move water into Shingle Creek and installing new pumps to lower pond water levels.

The construction company plans to talk about the project at 7 p.m. at the Orlo-Vista Chamber of Commerce on South Hastings Street in Orlando.
