ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando police officer is under internal investigation after a post he made on Facebook this past weekend following the killings of two Kissimmee police officers.

Robert Schellhorn used profanity in his post, called people savages, and athletes overpaid thugs.

T.J. Legacy-Cole, founder of Orange County Black Voice, said he wants Schellhorn to lose his job.

“Well, I asked for his termination, because I think he has disrespected his uniform,” Schellhorn told Channel 9’s Shannon Butler.

Cole called the posts, “racist.”

"This gives the community a glimpse of how some law enforcement officers feel about the African-American community,” Cole said.

Orlando police Chief John Mina would not talk on camera about the posts because of the internal investigation, but said in a statement, "As chief, my expectation is that members of the Orlando Police Department treat all people with dignity, respect, kindness and compassion…. I am extremely concerned about the statements, and there will be a complete and thorough inquiry."

Schellhorn was involved in a police shooting in 2014 outside a club when a driver sped toward him.

Schellhorn has been with the department for more than 10 years.

Schellhorn remains on duty while the investigation is ongoing.
