Investigators said the robber jumped the counter before punching the victim, then stabbing her.

When officers reviewed surveillance video of the attack, they saw the suspect entering the lobby in a long-sleeved, multi-colored shirt or possibly a hospital gown.

The victim was taken to the hospital with stab wounds to the face and chest as well as eye trauma from multiple closed-fist punches, resulting in permanent disfigurement.

In an attempt to generate leads on the suspect’s identity, Orlando Detectives shared still pictures from the video to social media showing the suspect in the hotel lobby just before the attack.

According to police, a worker in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Property and Evidence Division immediately recognized the suspect as 35-year-old Cordarryl Demby.

The evidence unit manager told investigators Demby had come into the office on the same day of the stabbing attempting to recover some property.

The manager said he remembered Demby based on the clothing he was wearing that day and recognized the unusual outfit in the pictures released by police.

Later, the victim also positively identified Demby from a photo lineup.

Demby was charged with felony attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Demby is being held in the Orange County jail on no bond.
