Orlando leaders kick off Pro Bowl Week with NFL humanitarian event

ORLANDO, Fla. — Local leaders kicked off Pro Bowl Week in Orlando with a humanitarian event.

Orlando leaders and NFL officials lead a greening project at Eagle Nest Park on Wednesday.

NFL officials said they always give back to the cities where they hold events, as they want to leave a legacy beyond the Pro Bowl.

“From the beginning when we sat down with Mayor Dyer it was about, we would love to have the Pro Bowl here, but how do we work together to leave a legacy, and we’ve tried to do that every single year,” said Peter O’Reilly with the NFL.

The NFL is also planting 5,000 trees in the Apalachicola National Forest in Northwest Florida.

Those trees will help restore areas damaged by Hurricane Michael.
