ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man who brought at gun to Orlando International Airport and threatened to harm himself has accepted a plea deal, according to court documents filed by the Orange County Clerk of Courts.

Michael Wayne Pettigrew, 26, pleaded nolo contendre, which means he accepts conviction as though a guilty plea, but does not admit guilt. Pettigrew agreed to the plea deal Aug. 16, documents show.

Pettigrew originally pleaded not guilty on charges related to an incident in May in which he told an airport employee at a Mears Transportation counter that he had a gun and ordered her to use his cellphone to call 911. Pettigrew then had a three-hour standoff with Orlando police before peacefully surrendering.

Pettigrew will spend 10 months in jail, one day of probation.

He faces charges of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement and carrying a concealed weapon.
