Salazar brings three decades of experience, including serving as the executive deputy chief for Dallas Fire-Rescue, Dyer tweeted.
“He is well qualified to ensure that OFD continues to work diligently in protecting our community,” Dyer wrote.
Orlando’s previous fire chief, Benjamin Barksdale, resigned in October. Barksdale was arrested following an incident at a restaurant in North Carolina last August.
