The city signed off on a new pilot program Tuesday after a months-long process. There are going to be in 10 approved spots for those businesses.
Before, the vendors stationed where they wanted, as long as they got the OK from businesses. But then the city noticed, and took action.
City leaders approved 12 vendors to be part of the new pilot program for food carts after first realizing on Halloween weekend that many didn’t have the permits to be stationed where they were.

The new rules do come with some changes. Instead of being open as long as they please, last call for the vendors has to be 2:30 a.m., with everything cleared by 3 a.m.
The idea is to prevent people from lingering around too long after bars close.
Food vendors said it will have a negative impact on sales.

The program also costs $50 be part of, along with feeds for Orange County and state licenses. Vendors are also required to have liability insurance and follow food service guidelines.
The program will run for a year, after which it can be extended.
