Orlando Attorney Dan Newlin preps for confirmation hearings, but public service is his honor

ORLANDO, Fla. — As President-elect Donald Trump prepares for his second oath of office in January, local attorney Dan Newlin, nominated as the next ambassador to Colombia, prepares for confirmation hearings.

On December 12, President-elect Donald Trump shared the information through a release.

“I am pleased to announce our next Ambassador to Colombia will be Daniel J. Newlin. A highly accomplished business executive, entrepreneur, and former Sheriff’s Detective, Dan boasts an impressive 28-year career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando, Florida.”

—  President-elect Trump

After President-elect Trump’s announcement, Attorney Newlin took to social media and released the following statement.

Last night, I had the profound honor of receiving a personal call from President-elect Donald J. Trump. The gravity of this moment was not lost on me; speaking with the President of the United States is an extraordinary experience that few are privileged to have. During our conversation, he graciously nominated me to serve as the United States Ambassador to Colombia. I accepted this prestigious nomination with both immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility.

For the last ten years I have worked as a senior advisor to my law firm while working remote. Building one of the best law firms in America. I am proud today to have 100 expert attorneys and 500 amazing staff.

While serving as a United States Ambassador I will remain in my current role as a senior adviser to my firm ensuring that Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys remains the very best law firm in the Nation. Nothing will change there!

Additionally, I look forward to continuing to serve our community as a public servant and our country in this new role.

Thank you for your support!”

—  Attorney Dan Newlin

Attorney Newlin has strongly supported President-elect Donald Trump during his recent run for office, holding fundraisers at his Central Florida home and buying a spot in last year’s Super Bowl wearing a MAGA hat and USA print across his shirt to remind viewers before the big game to remember and recognize our veterans and thanking veterans for their courage and service. “You are the true heroes,” he ended the ad before telling everyone to enjoy the game.

For those in Central Florida, television ads, where clients thank his office for winning their cases, and billboards along major highways are all many know about the high-profile attorney.

Attorney Newlin spent 28 years with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. He used his knowledge of law to fight for people caught up in the legal system.

Over the past 22 years, Newlin has become one of the country’s top personal injury law firms and has helped hundreds of thousands of clients with their legal fights.

Attorney Newlin is also passionate about helping those in need in Central Florida and the community, from providing gifts this Christmas to the Foster Children’s Association, Thanksgiving meals to the Coalition for the Homeless to giving $1 million to help the family of Corey Comperatore, the volunteer firefighter who was killed during the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, PA in July.

In March 2022, Attorney Newlin helped secure funding for Ukraine Humanitarian Operations. He raised hundreds of thousands for surgeons to fly to Ukraine to perform life-saving work on children and for medical supplies and other needs.

He also helped a mother and daughter fleeing the war in Ukraine. The family spent days in hiding to avoid the war in the streets. Newlin’s office got them on a bus out of Ukraine and after multiple flights across the globe to Mexico, finally landed in Orlando.

Now, Attorney Newlin is focused on his confirmation hearings.

“We have to work hard with our congressional hearings and do our best in letting the people in charge, in Congress, know who we really are and that we are all about service and that is what we want to do with our lives.”

During a recent interview, Newlin expressed his excitement and honor for being nominated. He said that giving back to the community is one of his greatest honors, and public service has been important to him since he was 18.

“Working as a United States ambassador and service, it all relates,” Newlin said. “It was an emotional moment to be called by the President and to be thought of for the position.”

Confirmation hearings with the Senate oversight committees can start as early as January 20, before Inauguration Day, but they can take weeks to finish.

The committee has not set a date for Attorney Dan Newlin’s confirmation hearings.
