Orange, Osceola, Seminole counties see over 10% positivity rate in COVID-19 cases

Four of the nine counties in Central Florida have a positivity rate above 10%.

“Generally, there’s an increase as you go through the second half of the month of June, which is something that should be of concern,” statistician Eric Solomon said.

Here’s a breakdown of the positivity rates in Central Florida by county:

Brevard: 8.4%

Flagler: 6.1%

Lake: 8%

Marion: 7.3%

Orange: 15.6%

Osceola: 14.2%

Seminole: 13.9%

Sumter: 4.9%

Volusia: 10.2%

The state average for the last two weeks of May was 3%.

In mid-May, the positivity rate dipped below 1%.

According to data compiled by John Hopkins University, Florida is the second-highest of 24 states that have a positivity rate above 5%.
