Wrong-way crash kills driver on State Road 417, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly wrong-way crash that killed an Orlando man.

The crash happened Saturday at around 3:45 a.m., on the northbound lanes of State Road 417 south of the University Boulevard exit.

Troopers said a Ford Mustang was traveling southbound in the center northbound E-Pass lane of SR 417 and crashed head-on into a Honda Odyssey.

After the initial crash, a Honda Accord that was also traveling northbound crashed into the Odyssey.

The 38-year-old male driver of the Mustang was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The male driver of the Honda Odyssey, a 40-year-old from Palatka, was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Accord was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers said this crash remains under investigation.
