ORLANDO, Fla. — The University of Central Florida has partnered with Universal Creative to give students a new hands-on learning experience.

On Wednesday, UCF announced the “Creative Lab” will begin with a blended modality.
Students will attend classes at Universal Orlando Resort and learn from engineers, creative directors and other professionals in the field.

During the class, students will also go to on-campus design workshops.
The first class using the design lab will be offered to graduate students in the Themed Experience program.

Next summer, the class will be open to graduate students and upperclassmen from any accredited college or university.
UCF’s Themed Experience program started in 2019 with a Master of Science degree and a Master of Fine Arts theatre degree.

Peter Weishar, the founding director of UCF’s Themed Experience program, said that this opportunity will help students get first-hand training.
“Orlando is the international hub of the themed entertainment industry,” Weishar said. “World-leading organizations, like Universal Creative, are right here at our doorstep.”
