Task force holds first meeting discuss ways to reduce Orange County gang violence

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A citizen’s task force with the aim to come up with ways to deal with the spread of gang violence in Orange County neighborhoods met for the first time Friday.

Investigators have said two children, including a 3 year old, have been killed in shootings connected to a gang feud in Orange County.

The task force is made up of dozens of representatives from law enforcement to community activists.

It’s mission is to reduce violence in the community.

During the meeting, Orange County Sheriff John Mina said this year homicides are up by 22%. He showed a heat map with concentrated areas of violence including Pine Hills Holden Heights and Texas Americana.
