Scam Alert: OUC says scammers are trying to get payments over the phone

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Utilities Commission is warning customers of an ongoing scam.

OUC said scammers who pretend to work for the utility company are calling people and demanding immediate payment over the phone.

According to a tweet from OUC, the company will never request payment or ask for your bank or credit card information over the phone. If payment is required, you will be directed to an automated system or you can pay at www.ouc.com.

OUC suggests that if you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately.
