ORLANDO, Fla. — A Central Florida church performed an act of kindness Sunday for dozens of people hoping to speak with ICE enforcement agents on Monday.

Channel 9 has been reporting since Thursday as hundreds of people have been showing up to address their immigration issues.

There has been confusion and frustration as people get turned away from appointments.
On Saturday night, there were only a handful of people waiting, but more have shown up over the weekend.

Dozens of people are now camped out waiting for the doors to open Monday morning.
As they try to remain hopeful, a Sanford church stopped by to encourage them to keep faith.

For the first time in more than a week, the mood in front of the Immigration Customs Enforcement and Removal Center has changed, thanks to Iglesia Cristiana Gracia y Gloria.
“We as a church wanted to come help them,” said Pastor Irene Familia.
Familia and her church stopped by Sunday with food and drinks to help raise the spirits for the dozens of people who have been sleeping outside and in their cars.

It’s unclear why there’s a backlog, but the center has reached capacity multiple days in a row.
Without another option, people have been waiting overnight in fear of missing their appointment and risking deportation.
Representatives Darren Soto and Stephanie Murphy also wrote a letter to ICE, asking them to investigate the backlog of appointments and hire more personnel to relieve the issue.
