Man found hiding in backyard arrested after Orange County attorney found dead inside home, police say

Orlando police arrested a man after the murder of a woman who was found dead Sunday morning in her home.

Officers said they found William Franklin hiding in the backyard of the home at 320 Jasmine Avenue, not far from the house where they found the body of the victim.

Police said her name is Erin Hartigan, and she was an Orange County attorney, and former attorney for the city of Orlando.

Police said they also found several items of evidence with Franklin.

He's charged with first-degree murder and burglary with battery.

Investigators said there is no known link between Hartigan and Franklin.

Police also asked residents to review their surveillance cameras for anything suspicious.
