ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department is warning residents of an ongoing scam.
OPD said they recently become aware of an ongoing scam circulating around social media, after some residents reported fraudulent activity by “organizers” who were advertising an event at Lake Eola Park on Oct. 23-24.

OPD said this event is fake.

Orlando police are asking residents report this ad it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center and file a complaint if they spot it on social media.
Police said to call your local police department if you or someone you know have given personal information to these “organizers” or paid any fees to participate.

Orlando police also gave some advice in spotting a scam:
- Research the event before you take any action.
- Make sure the event is being hosted by reputable organizations that can be easily searched online.
- Use your most trusted platforms when sharing personal information or submitting payments.
