ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orlando FEMA COVID-19 vaccination location ran out of vaccines nearly three hours before the site was supposed to close on Friday.
The site at Valencia College’s West Campus also received 500 doses of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Friday, allowing those getting vaccinated a choice between that and the two-shot Pfizer vaccine.

The site’s vaccination capacity also increased to 3,000 from 2,000 on Friday.
Officials said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine ran out before noon with the Pfizer doses running out just after 4 p.m.

Seventh grade math teacher Tyron Browder took the day off just so he could get the shot on the first full day teachers of all ages were eligible to get the vaccine at the federal sites in Florida.
Even though he and others spent around two and a half hours to get through the line, he said the wait was well worth it.

The site will open again at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
