ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The state requires all of its public vaccination sites to be open seven days a way.
However, Orange County’s site at the Convention Center is closed Sundays.
Health officials say they’re actually more productive this way.

“We are open Monday through Saturday, two shifts,” Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino said. “So we are open 12 days a week, not seven.”
Instead of being open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, they’re open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.
Therefore, it’s 12 shifts instead of what would normally be seven.

Pino said they’re able to get more appointments in this way, and it gives nurses who stand on their feet all day a break.
“I hope the public understands,” Pino said. “It’s not just a break, it’s a needed break, for recovering energy to do the things that they have to do at home to be ready for Monday.”
