Orange County tourism industry continues to rebuild, sees uptrend in tax dollars collected

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — New numbers out of Orange County are pointing to a positive trend for Central Florida tourism.

The latest numbers show Orange County collected $5.2 million in July. That is more than double what it collected in June, at $2.6 million.

The increase is due to the theme parks reopening through Central Florida.

The county brought in $1.1 million in May and $750,000 in April.

But the county’s $5.2 million tourism development tax dollars is still down by 77% compared to July 2019.

Statewide tourism is down about 60% since last year, according to Visit Florida.

Central Florida still has a long way to go in rebuilding its tourism industry, but things are moving in the right direction.
