Orange County population nears 50% vaccination mark

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County is nearing the 50% vaccination mark.

Mayor Jerry Demings said when that happens, we can all safely go without a mask while sitting anywhere outside.

While the county’s mask mandate can no longer be enforced, Demings said he hopes everyone is still following it.

However, he believes changes could be coming by the end of the week.

About 47% of the eligible population is now vaccinated in Orange County. Demings said it’ll get to 50 in just a few days, which would mean the start of phase two.

Demings said he’s still committed to reaching the 70% threshold before telling everyone they can safely remove their mask indoors.
