Orange County CARES Act portal closes an hour after opening

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act portal closed an hour after it opened Tuesday. It could be the last time the portal opens this year.

The portal allowed 20,000 residents to apply for a $1,000 grant.

County officials said people living in the same household who have been impacted by COVID-19, including roommates and other family members, were eligible to apply.

Residents needed the following to apply:

  • Photo ID
  • Social Security card
  • Documentation showing a loss of income

Any money that is left over will be turned over to the federal government.

Residents who have already received funding from Orange County’s CARES Act Individual and Family Assistance Program are not eligible to apply.
