New fire station opens in east Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Fire Rescue celebrated the opening of a new fire station on the county’s east side.

Fire Station 68 is on South Goldenrod Road near Silver Point Boulevard.

The firehouse has unique features ranging from new technology to private sleeping quarters for every firefighter.

Clean technology was installed into the HVAC system of the station to remove contaminants from the air as crews return from their incidents.

“Because we want them to have the best facilities to work out of, we want them to have the best equipment and we want them to get paid,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.

The fire chief said the new station will serve east Orange County for decades to come.

Officials also said more fire stations will be built as the county continues to grow.
