‘I’m scared of that kind of stuff’: Man dies after gunfire erupts in Orlando neighborhood

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man died after gunfire erupted in an Orlando neighborhood, Orange County deputies said.

Detectives spent hours piecing together what they called a homicide investigation.

At about 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 3100 block of West Central Boulevard for a shooting.

Deputies said a man in his 50s was found shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators had the intersection of West Central Boulevard and Cottage Hill Road shut down for more than nine hours.

Forensics specialists spent most of the night canvassing the property for clues.

Orange evidence markers littered the lawn.

Neighbors told Channel 9 they want the violence in the neighborhood to end.

“These people got to be tired of this,” said Germaine Harrison, a neighbor.

Harrison said she can’t help but worry about her own safety now. She lives right across the street.

“Look, I’m scared of that kind of stuff,” she said. “I’m an old lady, but I’m scared.”

Investigators said there is no suspect information available.
