ORLANDO, Fla. — Two Orange County deputies are recovering after a driver crashed into two patrol cars on I-4 overnight.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the deputies were tending to a crash on I-4 near Lee Road when another driver hit two patrol cars.
Troopers said Steevens Cherelus, 34, was driving the car that hit the deputies.
Deputies said Cherelus smelled of alcohol and his eyes were glassy.
According to a report, deputies took Cherelus to a nearby parking lot to perform a sobriety test.
Cherelus refused to take the test and asked to speak with a lawyer first, troopers said.
Later, deputies said they attempted to conduct a breath test on Cherelus, but he refused.
Cherelus was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Orange County Jail.
Two deputies were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
