TIMELINE: Coronavirus - Sunday, March 29

ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials have reported 4,950 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 60 deaths in Florida. Read live updates below:

11:06 p.m. update

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood released an update on households that are being monitored for COVID-19.

There are 60 confirmed cases in the county.

Orange County officials said 219 people were tested for COVID-19 at the Orange County Convention Center.

10:38 p.m. update

Seminole County’s social distancing order begins at midnight.

7:31 p.m. update

The Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol is implementing an additional checkpoint for drivers entering Florida from Georgia on I-95.

Officials said no checkpoints within the state impede commerce or the timely delivery of products across Florida.

6:43 p.m. update

President Donald Trump extended the federal guidelines for isolating for 30 additional days in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines were set to expire Monday. Health officials said the rollback would increase transmission of the virus.

TSA officials said an eighth worker at the Orlando International Airport tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials said the employee in now in self-quarantine, and hasn’t worked inside the airport since March 19.

6:15 p.m. update

The Florida Department of Health reported 4,950 cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Health officials said 4,768 Florida residents have tested positive.

The death toll is now at 60.

County-by-county cases:

• Orange: 268 cases

• Osceola: 89 cases

• Seminole: 81 cases

• Volusia: 60 cases

• Sumter: 45 cases

• Polk: 46 cases

• Lake (44 Cases)

• Brevard: 30 cases

• Marion: 22 cases

• Flagler: 13 cases

6 p.m. update

President Donald Trump said the FDA approved a new test Friday that can deliver coronavirus test results in five minutes. He said approval normally takes 10 months.

Trump also said vaccines are moving along rapidly. He said he would like to see something therapeutically for people who are already sick.

Trump said he will be extending guidelines until April 30.

5:45 p.m. update

A Florida National Guard soldier has tested positive for COVID-19, officials said.

Officials said the soldier is a 26-year-old man who reported for duty at the Miramar Readiness Center on March 17.

He exhibited symptoms of the virus and was placed in self-isolation at his home on March 19, officials said.

The solider did not interact with the public.

5:40 p.m. update

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said its Central Operations building on W. Colonial Drive and its substations will be closed until further notice.

5:11 p.m. update

4:08 p.m. update

Officials at Port Canaveral have suspended the use of indoor and outdoor venues at the port through May 1.

Officials said they will be processing refunds for deposits made and will not be accepting any new event reservations until further notice.

The Exploration Tower is closed until further notice and Jetty Park is closed.

Victory Casino Cruises has suspended sailings through Tuesday.

Port Canaveral’s public boat ramps remain open. Boaters should exercise social distancing when at the boat ramps, officials said.

3:17 p.m. update

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said deputies will give residents and business owners the benefit of the doubt under the stay-at-home order.

“If they (deputies) encounter someone who is not in compliance, they will have a chance to come into compliance, and we have told deputies that when possible, our residents and business owners should be given the benefit of the doubt,” said Mina.

2:25 p.m. update

11:10 a.m. update

The Florida Department of Health said 4,246 positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Florida -- an increase of 208 cases since Saturday evening.

There have been no new deaths reported, officials said. The death toll remains at 56.

Of the cases, 4,077 involve Florida Residents and 169 involve nonresidents.

9:35 a.m. update

An executive order will go into effect at midnight Monday in Seminole County, requiring residents to practice social distancing by keeping at least six feet apart.

Businesses may continue to operate with 30 percent of the maximum capacity allowable per fire code.

Anyone who violates the executive order could be fined $500. Click here to read about the order.

8 am. update

6:45 a.m. update

Florida is working to set up more highway checkpoints to deter travelers from New York from arriving in the state.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday the screening of travelers on Interstate 95 will be similar to the measure adopted Friday on Interstate 10 to discourage travel from Louisiana.

The checkpoints are to require travelers to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Coronavirus: CDC issues travel advisory for New York, New Jersey, Connecticut

DeSantis said President Donald Trump also talked to him about a quarantine for coronavirus hotspots in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut amid concerns that their residents have infected people in other regions, such as Florida.

Trump instead asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue a “strong travel advisory” for those three state. Click here to read more about that.

5:45 a.m. update

The Florida Department of Health has reported 4,038 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 56 deaths in Florida.

Of the cases, 3,877 involve Florida residents and 161 case involve nonresidents. Click here to see a map of cases in the state.

Officials said Saturday that 997 people were tested for COVID-19 at the Orange County Convention Center in its first week of operation. It is unknown how many people tested positive for the virus.
