Holiday safety: Firefighters raise alarm over dangers of Christmas tree fires

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — As the holiday season rolls around, local firefighters are reminding residents to be aware of fire safety.

Orange County fighters recently gave a demonstration of the dangers of dried-out Christmas trees.

Firefighters around the county raise the alarm on Christmas tree fires every year because the risk of a fire is so high.

Data shows there were more than 150 Christmas tree fires in the U.S. in 2020.

Along with watering, firefighters also recommend keeping the trees 3 feet away from any source of heat and replacing lights if they’re worn or broken.
