Happening at 10 a.m.: Orange County sheriff to give update on 1996 cold case arrest

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County investigators are set to talk about how they say they solved a cold case murder 25 years after it happened during a news conference on Thursday.

Deputies said they have caught the man who stabbed a convenience store manager to death in 1996. Kenneth Stough Jr. went before an Orange County judge on Wednesday for the murder.

He’s being held without bail on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon in the stabbing of Terrance Paquette.

Detectives said the arrest was made with help from a genealogy database and DNA recovered from beer cans that had been thrown away.
