ORLANDO, Fla. — Dozens of people came together Sunday in downtown Orlando to rally for farmworkers’ rights.

The Farmworkers Association of Florida teamed up with other local groups to say workers’ rights, immigration and affordable housing all intersect in a way that impacts the entire community.

It was a rally for reform on International Workers’ Day.

“We need this right now,” said Griselda Paye with the Farmworkers Association of Florida. “We cannot wait 10 or 15 years more years.”

Paye said she can’t keep putting up with the way she and people like her are being treated.
The groups hope rallies like this gets lawmakers attention for immigration rights, including better hours, gender equality and protection against racism and discrimination.
