MAITLAND, Fla. — Movie buffs in Central Florida will be able to return to the comfy seats and air conditioning as only a movie theater can offer beginning Friday.
The Enzian Theater in Maitland reopens its doors for the first time in three months on Friday as part of the state’s Phase 2 reopening plan, which officially began last week.
The cinema will operate at 50% capacity and social distancing will be implemented in the seats, the theater said in a Facebook post. Through June 18, all tickets will be matinee prices. Masks will be strongly encouraged.

The reopening will kick off with Alfred Hitchock Week. The iconic director’s masterpieces “Psycho,” “Rear Window,” “Shadow of a Doubt,” “The Birds” and “Vertigo” will be shown throughout the week.

The Enzian will also be showing “The Trip to Greece,” an official selection for the 2020 Florida Film Festival that was postponed to August 2020. “The Trip to Greece” will play for one week only.

Due to the limited capacity, the theater is encouraging moviegoers to buy tickets in advance.
On Sunday, The Enzian will host a free screening of “I Am Not Your Negro.” Space is limited, so guests are asked to claim a ticket in advance.
Since its screens went dark, the theater launched Enzian On Demand, allowing people to stream theatrical released from their home for the full price of a ticket. New titles will still be added to the streaming service every Friday.
