Crash leaves wife dead and husband in serious condition, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Orange County on Saturday.

The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hiawassee Road and Clarcona Ocoee Road.

According to troopers, a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Hiawassee Road, in the left turn lane.

A Dodge Charger was traveling southbound on Hiawassee when the Camry attempted to make a left turn on Clarcona Ocoee Road, and turned directly into the path of the charger, troopers said.

The Charger hit the Camry then proceeded to crash into a third vehicle that was waiting in the left turn lane behind the Camry.

The male driver and female passenger of the Camry were transported to the hospital, where the passenger later died. The driver remains in serious condition.

According to troopers, the 72-year-old driver and passenger are husband and wife from Puerto Rico.

The driver of the Charger and the third vehicle received minor injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
