WINTER PARK, Fla. — Just one day after the CDC loosened restrictions on masks, businesses and event organizers in Central Florida are looking at how the new guidance changes things.
One of our biggest local events, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, kicked off Friday without mask requirements.
The CDC said it will no longer recommend masks indoors or outdoors for anyone who is fully vaccinated, which is defined as two weeks after the final shot.
The new guidance still calls for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters.

While some in Winter Park are enjoying not wearing the masks, most people Channel 9 spoke with still had their masks with them and plan to wear them in some situations.
Businesses in the area said people are obviously more than welcome to wear masks, but that it’s basically whatever makes people feel comfortable.
