ORLANDO, Fla. — Lynne Cheek first had cancer back in 2008. She was clear for nearly 10 years, and in 2017 she got it back.

She is currently battling Stage 4 cancer and following an intense treatment plan.

“I have radiation every day,” Cheek said. “And then on Wednesday, I had my … I’ll call it chemo. But it’s immunotherapy, and I have a physical therapy guy who comes to my house twice a week.”

In between all that, there was time over the weekend for a lunch with friends

But that lunch, much to Lynne’s surprise, transformed into what looked like a pep rally complete with the University of Central Florida band, the mascot, numerous members of the UFC football team and more.

“I’m looking around seeing all the people that I know and just that (are) walking in, they’re giving me hugs,” Cheek said. “They had a table for me … with a giant cake, all the football players were there. I’m like, this is the best day of my life.”
