ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Heavy smoke and flames were coming from an Apopka home when Orange County firefighters responded Thursday morning.
Firefighters said the house was 60% involved when they arrived at the home on East 15th Street. They said a man sleeping on the front porch of the home escaped through a window after he was awakened by a neighbor who saw the smoke.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out by 8:50 a.m., and Duke Energy responded to the scene to deal with a live wire on the ground.
The Red Cross is assisting the man who lived in the home. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
