ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Sheriff John Mina’s son was arrested late Saturday on charges of driving under the influence after refusing a field sobriety test, an arrest report said.

The report said Chase Mina, 27, was discovered shortly before midnight asleep and slumped over the steering wheel of his pickup truck at South Dillard Street and East Story Road in Winter Garden.
Police asked him where he was coming from, and he told them he was coming from “the ride home,” the report said.

It said that when they asked him if he had been drinking, he said, “a little.”
Police said there were two open beers in the vehicle’s cupholders and Chase Mina’s speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot, he smelled of alcohol and he was stumbling.

He was arrested after twice refusing to participate in a field sobriety test.
“This is a personal matter involving my adult son, and I expect this case to be handled like any other case through the justice system,” Sheriff John Mina told Channel 9 in a statement.
