ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Some school board members say they want Gov. Ron DeSantis to show flexibility in deciding when to reopen schools.
“We really need to be thoughtful in this decision because people are are nervous,” Orange County School Board member Linda Kobert said.
Kobert said the board plans to send a letter to the governor expressing concerns about a blanket reopening date.
“What's right for Orange County, which is a tourist capital of the world, might not be right for a small Wakulla or an Okaloosa County in a different part of the state.”

Schools have been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, DeSantis indicated that counties may reopen at different times, saying “not every county is going to be treated the same in this.”
