Orange County school board considers joining lawsuit against social media platforms

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Public Schools said it is considering joining a lawsuit against several social media platforms.

Many Florida school boards are suing Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, saying their sites have caused damage to the districts and their students.

OCPS claims the sites use addictive algorithms designed to create a cycle of habitual use.

They also said the platforms don’t use effective measures to verify age.
