Orange County Public Schools resumes annual ‘Teach-In’ event with a visit from Channel 9 News

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — With COVID-19 numbers down, Orange County Public Schools resumed its annual “Teach-In” event this year.

Every November, as part of American Education Week, the OCPS Foundation invites local business and civic leaders into the classroom to talk to students about their futures in a fun and engaging way.

For National Teach-In Day, Channel 9 News was brought into Dommerich Elementary School in Maitland Thursday.

Anchor Martha Sugalski toured the school’s news studio, chatted with their young anchor, and participated in a broadcast.

WFTV’s Head of Technology Dave Sirak also showed off one of Channel 9′s live trucks and a drone used for news coverage.

The third-graders were allowed to ask questions about the news and how WFTV broadcasts are produced.
