Florence is also a person of interest in the murder of Boone High School student Alejandro Vargas. Vargas was shot and killed outside the school in December 2018.

Court documents said Florence said he wasn’t there when Vargas was killed, but detectives said they found a picture on his cellphone of the gun said to have been used in the murder of the 15-year-old.
