ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies throughout Orange County, announced the start of their annual holiday safety initiative Thursday.

Also known as “Operation Safe Holidays,” Chief Orlando Rolon says they’ll work with other agencies to deploy additional resources throughout the community during the holiday season.

Rolon made the announcement from the Mall at Millenia Thursday, flanked by representatives from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, other local police departments, the mall’s Director of Security, and Santa himself.
Their message was clear: grinches are out there looking for opportunities to take advantage of people while they’re shopping this holiday season, and everyone needs to stay alert.

“The Orlando Police Department is committed to the safety of everyone in our community. This holiday season is no exception,” Chief Rolon said. “If you’re shopping online, or are expecting packages for delivery, make sure somebody is home in time for the delivery, or schedule a specific time at a store if it’s local.”
Rolon says more officers will be deployed particularly in busy shopping areas throughout the holidays.
